I still don't get act & potency!

What are the ten highest predicables? What is the trick to the Mascheroni construction in MTH202? What does Dr. Schubert really want in an essay? Ask it here!

I still don't get act & potency!

Post by AmericanDream »

Act seems like potency to me and potency act.

Since isn't potency >> ability? In that case, something that has the ability to be more things is thus greater in potency and the contrary, that something which is able to become or do fewer things is thus less in potency and we would say act, or perhaps more like "stuck" in act.

It feels like they're teaching it the other way though, that act means ability, which makes sense maybe in one sense but then wrecks trying to understand potency.

Is there anything we can understand around here?
